Traffic Priority Object - Overview

Overview

The Traffic Priority Object is used simply to escalate or demote the internal processing of selected network sessions.  Low, Normal and High priority processing can be assigned to sessions specified by User, Group, Protocol, internal and external IP Addresses and ports as well as applications.

Though the Object is a "Multiple Process" Object having an inbound component and an outbound component, priortization is regulated on outbound packet processing only. Outbound packets will be queued and processed according to their priortization for the available bandwidth.

Inbound traffic will always be processed without restriction.

Priortization is applied only to sessions defined by the rules. When there is no contention for available bandwidth, the defined traffic will be processed at normal speeds.

All traffic that is NOT defined by any of the priority rules will be unaffected.
